Workforce Capacity Programme
Â
Changing how teams respond to pressure, recover, and function across the day
Designed for teams working in ongoing demand, this programme supports how people regulate under pressure, maintain focus, and recover across the working day.
From quick fixes to lasting change.
Many workplace wellbeing approaches start with good intentions, an app, a webinar, or an awareness campaign. They can raise attention, but when people are under constant pressure, they’re harder to use consistently, and the impact doesn’t always carry into the day.
That’s because behaviour follows physiology. When the body is already under strain, it’s harder to access the things people already know would help.
This programme works with what sits underneath how people function - how the body responds to ongoing demand, and how that response can be understood and influenced within the day.
Grounded in applied physiology, it uses simple breath and movement to support that shift in everyday work, between tasks, during conversations, or as pressure begins to build.
What’s Included
The programme is delivered through live, facilitator-led sessions, supported by Small Shifts membership.
Sessions combine clear explanation with practical use, with space to experience the shifts directly and begin using them within the working day.
Alongside the programme:
- A nominated team member is trained as an internal facilitator
- Simple session structures and guided resources to support ongoing use
- Ongoing access to Small Shifts materials through membership
- Evaluation through brief pre- and post-engagement surveys, with a concise impact summary
This approach builds internal capability, so teams can continue using it in a way that fits naturally into their day-to-day work.
Live Sessions
People develop practical ways to regulate under pressure, maintain focus, reduce unnecessary tension, and recover more reliably between periods of demand.
Built on small, repeatable shifts that fit into real working days, these changes are more likely to carry through the day.
Delivered live online, sessions are designed to fit into the way teams already work, adapting to different settings, schedules, and the realities of busy environments.

“Some of the highest engagement we’ve seen across the Trust. Staff in high-pressure roles made time for it, and reported feeling better able to manage stress and stay present during demanding days. By the end, they were recommending it to colleagues and using the techniques with patients.”

“This gave staff a clear, science-based understanding of how breath supports stress regulation and focus. The techniques were simple to use straight away, and staff have already begun sharing them with colleagues and patients.”
