Small Shifts for Teams
Â
Helping people feel and function better at work.Â
Work can place significant demands on how we think, feel and function. Stress, poor sleep, fatigue, physical tension and ongoing pressure can all influence how people respond during the working day.
Most people already know that taking breaks, moving, sleeping well and managing stress are important. But knowing what helps doesn't always make it easy to put into practice, particularly when demands are high.
Small Shifts helps people understand what's happening in their body, experience practical ways to influence it, and turn what they learn into small changes they can use within their own working day.
How it works
Our team programmes bring together physiology, psychology, breath science and behaviour change to help people better understand what influences how they feel and function.
Across four or six short, live sessions, participants explore their own responses, experience practical breathing and movement-based approaches, and learn how to apply them to the demands of work and life.
Each week, they choose a Small Shift to try, notice what happens and adapt it to what works for them, building practical skills they can continue to use beyond the programme.
The four week programme covers the core Small Shifts approach, while the six week programme goes further, exploring what happens as demands increase and how we can respond, recover and adapt.
Breathing
Understand how breathing responds to different demands and how small changes can influence how we feel and function.
Stress & Load
Understand how ongoing demands affect the body, recognise how stress shows up and explore practical ways to respond.
Sleep & Recovery
Explore what influences recovery and how the demands of the day can affect our ability to switch off, rest and recover.
Managing Your State
Learn to recognise changes in state and develop practical ways to respond depending on what the situation requires.
Responding to Challenge
Explore how we respond as demands increase and develop the ability to stay present and organised under challenge.
Adapting & Recovering
Explore how challenge and recovery work together and build our capacity to respond to work and life.
What's included
The programme is delivered through four or six 30-minute live online sessions, combining learning, guided practice and reflection.
Participants receive supporting resources and guided practices to help them apply what they're learning between sessions and within their working day.
Brief pre- and post-programme measures help us understand what's changed, with a concise impact summary provided to the organisation.
Following the programme, teams can continue with monthly Small Shifts sessions to revisit key areas, explore new practices and support people to keep using what they've learned as demands change.
Practical, non-clinical support that fits into real working lives, backed by NHS-based evaluation showing reduced stress and improved sleep.

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation
“Some of the highest engagement we’ve seen across the Trust. Staff in high-pressure roles made time for it, and reported feeling better able to manage stress and stay present during demanding days. By the end, they were recommending it to colleagues and using the techniques with patients.”
Alex, Wellbeing Team
Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust
“This gave staff a clear, science-based understanding of how breath supports stress regulation and focus. The techniques were simple to use straight away, and staff have already begun sharing them with colleagues and patients.”
