Shift your state
A practical, physiology-first programme for people who want to feel clearer, steadier and more capable in daily life.
How you think, feel and handle pressure is shaped by the state your body is in. When your system settles, clarity, capacity and ease naturally increase. This programme begins by helping your physiology create those conditions.
We take time to understand:
- what you want more capacity for
- how pressure shows up in your body
- how your physiology shapes focus, energy and emotional steadiness
You’ll learn simple tools and just enough science to understand why they work:
- how breathing patterns influence chemistry and focus
- how your nervous system shifts between openness and overload
- how tension, energy dips and reactivity reflect physiological load
This approach supports the systems that influence daily functioning, allowing your physiology to settle so thinking becomes clearer, tension eases and change becomes more sustainable.
 The essence of our work
We work directly with the body to support the systems that regulate stress response, focus, energy and recovery. When these systems settle, it becomes easier to think clearly, respond calmly and move through the day with steadier energy.
Each session blends practical tools with simple, easy-to-understand science, so you can feel the shift and also understand what’s happening internally. The practices are quick, usable in real moments of pressure and, with consistency, begin to change how you think, feel and respond.
Through breath, gentle movement and clear education, we guide the body toward a steadier internal state that supports clearer decisions, calmer reactions and easier day-to-day functioning.
Â
You will learn how to:
- shift out of stress and into a clearer, more regulated state
- steady yourself before conversations or challenging moments
- release tension that drains energy
- recover more quickly after periods of pressure
- reduce internal noise so thinking feels easier
- build a physiological foundation that supports clearer decisions and daily ease
These are practical skills you can use in seconds, anywhere, and they fit easily into daily life.
Why this approach works
Physiology shapes state, and state shapes behaviour. When the body is unsettled, clarity and steadiness are harder to access; when the body settles, these capacities return naturally.
By supporting the systems that underpin focus, emotional regulation and recovery, this approach helps people make changes that are easier to maintain and more sustainable over time.
It’s why we start with the body: when physiology shifts, the way you think, feel and respond begins to shift as well.
Programme Content
A 4–8 session series covering:
- breathing physiology & COâ‚‚ tolerance
- emotional chemistry
- nervous system regulation
- interoception & early stress signals
- focus & performance states
- resilience under load
- sleep physiologyÂ
Each session blends practical tools, clear explanations and space to explore your own patterns.
What sessions look like
Sessions are 30 minutes and led by an experienced facilitator. Each week you learn two simple, practical tools you can use straight away, without anything feeling overwhelming. Breath is used as a grounding reset and to gradually improve baseline regulation over time.
You’ll also have access to guided audios, clear explanations and a members’ area with resources you can return to whenever you need them, along with ongoing access to the Small Shifts community.
Throughout the programme, you receive gentle daily support to help the practices take root, including personalised daily plans, guided audios and straightforward information you can use in real moments of pressure.

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation
"This programme had some of the highest engagement we’ve seen across the Trust. Staff in high-pressure clinical roles made time to learn new skills, and many reported feeling better able to manage stress and stay present during demanding days. By the end, they were recommending the sessions to colleagues and keen to use the techniques with patients and peers."

“This course gave our staff a clear, science-based understanding of how breathwork supports stress regulation and focus. Lucy’s practical demonstrations were easy to use straight away, and the weekly challenges kept people engaged. Staff have already begun sharing the techniques with colleagues and patients.”
