Your Pace.
Physical activity isn't always as straightforward as knowing what to do.
You might already know you'd like to be more active. You might have joined a gym, started walking, tried a class or followed an exercise plan. Or you might already be active but find it difficult to keep going, progress or adapt when something changes.
There's a lot that can influence physical activity, and what matters will be different for each person. Time, energy, breathlessness, effort, discomfort, confidence, recovery, sleep, stress and the other demands of life can all play a part.
Your Pace helps you work out what's influencing your physical activity and what might help.
What's influencing your physical activity?
Do any of these sound familiar?
You might recognise a few of these, or your experience might be different. That's why we start with you.
I don’t always have the energy.
I'm not sure where to start.
Pain or discomfort affects what I do.
I struggle to find the time.
I keep stopping and starting.
I've lost confidence in what I can do.
I get out of breath quickly.
Stress, sleep or other demands affect my activity
I'm not sure how hard I should be working.
What I can manage changes.
Not everyone needs the same support.
We start with where you are now, what you'd like to be able to do and what's happening both during physical activity and around it.
From there, we build your PACE Profile to identify what needs attention first and where to start.
For some people, one practical change, some guidance or a useful resource might be enough. You don't automatically need to join a longer programme.
Others may need support with things like breathlessness, judging effort, pacing, confidence, recovery, finding ways to fit activity into life or progressing what they're already doing. And where several things are affecting your physical activity, we can work together for longer, focusing on what's most important first.
We check what happens.
You put this into practice in your own physical activity and we check what happens. What's working? What's still difficult? Has anything changed?
We use that information to decide what comes next, whether that's continuing with what you're doing, making an adjustment, progressing or focusing on something different.
The more you understand what's influencing your activity, the easier it becomes to work out what to do next.

Refer to Your Pace.
Your Pace supports people who want to increase, maintain or progress their physical activity but are finding it difficult to do so.
They might not know where to start, keep stopping and starting, or find that breathlessness, fatigue, discomfort, confidence, recovery or the demands of life are affecting what they can do.
We start by understanding what's influencing their physical activity, then work out what might help. Support is tailored to the person, with adjustments made along the way based on how they respond.
